Week 23-24 Bumpdate
Can you believe how quickly the time is passing?! Today I’m sharing about weeks 23 and 24 of expecting our little baby girl!
Week 23-24 Bumpdate:
How far along: 23-24 weeks (I am 25 weeks along today!) It is crazy to think about the fact that we’re already 5 months through a 9-month pregnancy!
I had my glucose test last Monday. It wasn’t fun fasting before the test – I was SO hungry! – and the orange sugary drink was relatively gross, but overall it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be! Bjorn and I went to Perkins afterwards with a gift card we had, which totally made my day! 🙂
Size of the baby: eggplant (at 24 weeks) – baby weighs about 1.5 lbs.
Weight gain: about 14 pounds – the doctor said I’m gaining the perfect amount at the perfect rate! Hooray!

^^ baby girl bump at 24 weeks! — and our baby soybean plants behind me at 4 weeks 😉 ^^
Gender: GIRL!!! 🙂 We are SO excited! It has been so much fun daydreaming about her and what she’ll look like and act like. We do have her name picked out but we won’t be sharing it until she’s here.
Symptoms: I’ve had a bit more energy these last couple weeks…yay!
Braxton Hicks started for me at the end of 22 weeks…I had a couple pretty intense ones while we were walking around Home Depot. It seems that me being dehydrated that day brought them on with more intensity.
I’ll talk more about it below but baby girl is kicking stronger than before! She’s actually kicking right now as I type this post 🙂 It is surprising and surreal at times, but mostly it is just so reassuring. I’ve been emotional in the past week as well. 🙂
Missing: Allergy meds? (It’s my fault/decision I haven’t been taking them, though.) This isn’t really a pregnancy symptom but I’ve been dealing with some pretty annoying seasonal allergies this whole past month. Since I haven’t taken a single pill or medication this entire pregnancy besides supplements, and I generally like to keep my body meds-free anyway, I’ve been holding off on taking any allergy meds. So far, our new air purifier has helped a lot. Even though Zyrtec was approved by my doctor, I plan on avoiding taking anything unless I am absolutely miserable. I’m in an outdoor wedding this weekend, so we’ll see! 🙂
I don’t drink coffee and we hardly ever drink alcohol, so I’m not missing those. I’d say allergy meds are the biggest thing I would want right now.
Wearing: These jeans from Pink Blush, combined with some non-maternity tops. I’m definitely wearing sweats at home, though! (What a blessing to have summers off as a teacher!) You’d be surprised at how many non-maternity tops are still fitting, at over halfway through this pregnancy! I’ve rediscovered a couple of my favorite Brass tops and even a favorite Brass maxi dress that still miraculously fits over the baby bump!
Craving: I’m still loving apples! I keep them cold in the fridge and enjoy apple slices during the day with caramel dipping sauce! I’m also craving Indian food but we don’t live near a lot of restaurant choices like Indian places, so that’s a craving I’ll just have to deal with and enjoy later. And ice cream sandwiches are my (rediscovered) new favorite thing! They are such a fun snack to reach for on these hot days.
Feeling: I’ve been more emotional this past week. I’ve also felt a bit more overwhelmed because we are going to be out of town quite a bit this summer, and there is just so much I want to get done before fall! It’ll all come together, though. And baby will be just fine if her nursery isn’t 100% Pinterest-worthy by the time she arrives. 🙂
Looking forward to: Summer adventures with Bjorn! We have some fun traveling coming up and I can’t wait! As teachers, we love using summertime as our adventure/travel time!
I’m also super excited about decorating her nursery. I got her a teddy bear named Ginger, and it’ll be so fun to let Ginger “try” out all of the baby items. 🙂
I’ve already painted her dresser/changing table white, and I created a nursery style mood board for inspiration! Nursery daydreaming is the greatest! Her gray and white glider arrived and Bjorn assembled it for me 🙂 It is such a nice glider (we ordered it from Wayfair!) and I’m so glad we went with this one. It’ll be fun to piece her room together over these next few months.
Bjorn is: really looking forward to being a daddy to our little girl! He is so thrilled. (And it just warms my heart thinking about how much they’ll love each other!)
Movement: Our baby girl is still stretching and moving like crazy. I can especially feel it most when I’m laying down. (She’s at the development stage where movement basically lulls her to sleep but when I’m still, she’s more active!) She also likes to kick when I’m rocking in her new glider!
Sleep: I’ve been sleeping quite well at night, actually! I still have some vivid dreams but they aren’t scary. Some nights I’m not even getting up in the middle of the night. (I just get up early.) I do wake up more achy and uncomfortable in the mornings, but I am LOVING my Hiccapop Pregnancy Wedge Pillow (aff. link) and it has really helped me to sleep better on my side. I will not be sleeping without it a single night, haha!
Best moments: Little baby kicks and nursery daydreaming. I love following along with baby’s growth on my Ovia pregnancy app, too. It’s amazing to read that baby girl is now developing her taste buds and sense of hearing, and her fingernails are complete. There are all sorts of facts I’m learning each day that point to what a miracle she is! Bjorn and I already love her so much and can’t wait to meet her this fall.

12 Tips For Relieving Morning Sickness (What Worked For Me)
So excited for you! Im 35 weeks now with our first baby and it’s so crazy how fast these nine months go by. I remember thinking when I first got the positive test that his due date seemed forever away and now it’s basically here! The kicks and flips are the best part!! Can’t wait to see her nursery. Glad you’re feeling so well!
Thank you, Shannon! Congrats on your pregnancy! You are getting so close! Thank you for your kind words and for reading along! I agree – even though the kicks and flips are kind of surreal (and sometimes they’ve worn me out), they are a blessing!
I’m 8 weeks along with my second baby and now you totally have me craving apples with caramel sauce!! I love these bump dates. I did them when I was pregnant with my son and plan on continuing the tradition with this pregnancy!
Aww! Congrats on your pregnancy, Madisin! That is very exciting news! 🙂 I like to tell myself that apples are healthy at least…the caramel sauce, not so much. 😉 Thanks for reading along! I haven’t gotten my act together enough to do weekly bumpdates, but these periodic ones have been fun!
It’s going along so quickly, doesn’t it???
It really is!! It is so crazy how quickly time is just flying by!
