Verses for a Season of Waiting

verses season waiting graphic 2

Last week, when I talked about how to thrive in a season of waiting, I shared with you about my ongoing struggle with impatience. And I opened up about how I have this crazy urge to wrest control from God’s grasp and clench it in my own fist. It was touching and encouraging to hear that this post really resonated with some of you 🙂

Today I want to continue the dialogue by sharing some verses that bring me encouragement during seasons of waiting. A lot of these come from Psalms because, well, King David was a man who knew how fallible he was as a human, how much his soul ached for God, and how he needed to truly rely on his Maker. His words are so beautiful and have really become a prayer for me during times of learning to wait on the Lord. I hope these bring you some hope and joy too, friends!

Bible Verses for a Season of Waiting

Psalm 31:14-15

But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord. I say, “You are my God.” My times are in Your hands…

Psalm 34:1-3

I will honor the Lord at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth. My soul will be proud to tell about the Lord. Let those who suffer hear it and be filled with joy. Give great honor to the Lord with me. Let us praise His name together.

Psalm 62:7-8

My being safe and my honor rest with God. My safe place is in God, the rock of my strength. Trust in Him at all times, O people. Pour out your heart before Him. God is a safe place for us.

Isaiah 58:11

The Lord will always lead you. He will meet the needs of your soul in the dry times and give strength to your body. You will be like a garden that has enough water, like a well of water that never dries up.

Isaiah 40:31

But they who wait upon the Lord will get new strength. They will rise up with wings like eagles. They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weak.

Psalm 62:5

My soul is quiet and waits for God alone. My hope comes from Him.

What verses do you lean on during seasons of waiting?

  1. This is beautiful, Hannah! Luke 4:18-19 really encouraged me this weekend. It reminds me of what our faith (and our lives!) are all about… and I can be a part of what God is doing no matter where I’m at!

  2. I love this so much. Jeremiah 29:11 has always touched my heart through times of waiting. I guess it’s always been the assurance that God knows my path and what is in my future, so I don’t have to be afraid or dread what is coming.

    1. Thank you, Jemmima! Yes, I love that verse in Jeremiah! He is not out to get us – our God has great plans for our path. All we have to do – and what I sometimes struggle with – is leaning into Him and trusting that His way is the best way! Thanks for reading along and I’m glad it was meaningful to you! 🙂
