Throwback Thursday // Cambodia
3 years ago this month, I was living in a much, much warmer place. 😉
I studied abroad in Cambodia for the month of January when I was a junior in college. It was one of the most amazing, overwhelming, awe-inspiring, heartbreaking, challenging, and phenomenal months of my life.
Our prof told us that we’d not only be processing everything when we were dumped right back into life in the U.S., but in the years to come…and she couldn’t have been more right. I feel as if so much of my experience is still deep within me – in hidden corners of my mind, in poignant memories that startle me in the middle of the work day…
Maybe my mind feels it finally has the room to breathe and reflect upon it. Maybe I even needed this step back, more time to process? I don’t know. In any case, I’ve finally begun combing through the hundreds of photos and “Lightroom-ing” them, which has been awesome! I’ll leave you with a brief throwback post now, but I can’t wait to share more about Cambodia later. 🙂
In the meantime – are there any questions you have? What do you want to know about my time in Cambodia? 🙂

Oh my gosh, these photographs are so beautiful. I really want to go! Hmm questions I’d like answered is what was the most challenging part of your stay? What is the food like? 🙂

Thanks, Miriam! It’s been so fun to “run” the photos through Lightroom recently! Thanks for the topic suggestions! I’m excited to ponder and answer those questions 🙂
Wow, some of that architecture is amazing, not the mention the beaches! It sounds like you had an amazing time – I’d love to hear more about your experience!
Thanks, Kerri! Yes, the architecture is so different – and amazing! It sure was a special experience!
Im so excited about visiting Cambodia – I really hope we get to go this year. I just find the whole idea of it so magical – the temples, the floating cities and all the other sights it offers. Glad you had a fantastic time!
Oh neat, Laura!! It would be so amazing if you get to go! Cambodia is such an interesting, unique country!! 🙂
SO cool!! Did you know that I lived in China for 6 months before Adam and I started dating?! It’s such a long story but I was there as part of an exploratory project to start a mentorship program for older orphans. Wow. God rocked my world in that season. So many stories and crazy things that happened!
I love that you shared this on your blog and that you had the chance to live abroad! Shouldn’t everyone do it?!
xo
Nicole, that is so cool! Yes, I read that on your bio or love story, I think!! That sounds like such an amazing experience! And it’s awesome that you got to help get a mentorship program off the ground 🙂 Yes, I think everyone should spend time (even if they can only spare a few weeks) living abroad! It opens up a whole new part of yourself, I think. God showed us awesome things on our trip, too. Even those who are homebodies (like me!) can gain so much from time abroad. Thanks for stopping by!! 🙂
