My Favorite Basic Maxi Dress (+ a discount for you!)

I am all about neutrals and basics! It’s hilarious – I will walk right past the brighter colors in a clothing store and reach for the grays, tans, whites, and blacks almost without thinking about it! Neutrals are just so much easier for me to pair with each other and match with other elements of an outfit. I do own a few items that are bright, but if you were to peek inside my closet, you’d notice a lack of super vivid primary colors. 🙂
Part of the reason I love neutrals so much is because I like to have a simple color scheme and basic clothing hues and styles to use as a foundation for my wardrobe.
One of the pieces I rely on most is a basic, solid-colored maxi skirt or maxi dress. They’re so much fun to layer with cardigans, denim jackets, accessories, and more! I wear maxi dresses and maxi skirts a lot – for teaching, for church, for special events…the list goes on. Today I wanted to share one of my very FAVORITE basic maxi dresses ever – the black tank maxi from Brass Clothing! (And there’s a $10 off discount code at the end of the post!)
My Favorite Basic Maxi Dress
Let me start by noting that this dress is not technically a maternity dress. It just happens to fit well over my baby bump (which makes me so happy!). You can wear this dress pregnant or not – three cheers for versatility!
Bjorn and I try to document some baby bump photos every couple weeks or so. We want to soak in this special season before becoming a family of 3! I usually put a couple of these photos in my pregnancy update posts – it has been fun to watch the bump grow over the past few months.

So, when we wanted to do a little photoshoot last week, I quickly slipped into my favorite black maxi dress and headed out the door! It’s that simple! I did grab a denim jacket (because that’s usually what I like to pair with this dress), but ended up not needing it on this warmer evening.
Don’t you just love when a cute outfit basically requires one item? I do! You pull on the dress and you’re essentially ready for your day! 🙂
This maxi dress is from Brass Clothing – I’m an ambassador for them and I have been a fan of this company for such a long time! The fact that they want to create workable, flattering basics really speaks to me.
All of the products from Brass are so versatile and classy! You can wear their dresses (and tops and sweaters and more) to work, to a night out with friends, or simply as a pulled-together outfit!
Specifically, I love this dress for the feel of the fabric (it’s so comfy!), the color (of course), and the flattering fit! It’s gathered nicely at the waist – plus, it has pockets!!
I’m a huge fan of the Brass pieces I own! They are an important part of my wardrobe and easy to reach for when I want a basic but classy outfit!
If you’re looking for a really versatile item to add to your wardrobe (and one you can wear all year-round, AND while pregnant, haha) then you’ll love the tank maxi dress from Brass Clothing!
