My 2015 Word of the Year
One of my favorite bloggers, Casey Leigh, chooses a new word every year to describe her personal character goals for the next twelve months. In years past, Casey Leigh has chosen words like PEACE, HOPE, and most recently, BRAVE. She talks about her words of the year in this post. I have really been inspired by her thoughts on these topics and how she has strived to live out those words.
Instead of penning a list (like I so often do) of insurmountable goals and resolutions, I’ve decided to follow in Casey Leigh’s footsteps.
My 2015 word of the year is
CONTENT.
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking over this holiday season, and the thought kept coming back to me…how often am I truly content? Content with where I’m at right now – in every facet of my life. And is my contentment momentary, or deep and full and lasting? The apostle Paul wrote, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances…” (Philippians 4)
We so often want to push ourselves forward in life – to skip over the messy parts, the aches and pains, the waiting games, the hard. But there is a truth hidden deep in me that I often ignore:
I can be content because I know that I am where God desires me to be.
I’m excited to use this word to challenge myself this year, to make this hope of true, unadulterated CONTENTMENT a reality.
What about you? Do you have a word in mind for this upcoming year? What are you striving for?
Hi friend, happy new year!! I love this word so much– it’s so easy to be unhappy or unsatisfied with what we have or what we’re able to do… and contentment is precious!
Thanks, Daisy!! Happy new year to you, too 🙂 Yep, contentment is a hard battle but oh-so-worth-it in the end!
I love this idea so much, and you picked a great word! Love that verse too – I’ll have to remember this!
