Martha Stewart’s Appetizers Book

|

My husband Bjorn and I love to spend time in the kitchen together. We especially love making fun, creative snacks and appetizers together. We have very different skills and talents in the kitchen, though. We joke about this often because Bjorn is very skilled at scrounging around and coming up with meal ideas using what we already have…and I tend to go the ambitious route with sometimes overly complicated recipes! Standing in front of the fridge, not knowing what I want to make for supper, is not one of my favorite things. 😉

So, when Blogging For Books brought me the opportunity to review Martha Stewart’s Appetizers book, I was thrilled because this book is right up my alley! Martha Stewart is known for classy, elegant, delicious food…that is sometimes a bit of extra work. We flipped through this cookbook multiple times before really settling on a couple recipes that were particularly feasible…although all of them looked delicious!

We settled on:

  • Radishes with an herb-butter dip
  • Cream-cheese stuffed, bacon-wrapped jalapeños
  • Pistachio stuffed, bacon-wrapped dates

We had Bjorn’s mom over for supper that evening so we could all enjoy the variety of appetizers! Bjorn absolutely loved the jalapeños and my mother-in-law and I preferred the bacon-wrapped stuffed dates. The butter-herb dip for the radishes was anti-climactic; we won’t be making that recipe again. However, we did discover a couple really fun, new recipes, so we look forward to going through the cookbook again and selecting a couple more appetizers for next time!

  1. I’ve always loved Martha Stewart’s cookbooks! I’ll definitely be checking it out for the bacon wrapped dates!

P.S. So jealous that you two cook together – it’s never an enjoyable experience when my husband and I cook together…

    1. 🙂 I guess I take that for granted sometimes! We got into the habit of cooking together back in college – I’d head over to the house he shared with the guys and we’d make supper. Martha Stewart’s cookbooks are really nicely laid out! And those bacon wrapped dates are pretty amazing. 🙂 Thanks for reading along, Elyse!!
