Kitchen Tidying Checklist (Free Printable!)
Which housekeeping tasks fill you with a sense of satisfaction?
I feel the most settled on evenings when I leave a clean, tidy kitchen downstairs.
I just love glancing back at the freshly wiped countertops, the dish-less white farmhouse sink, and flipping the little yellowy sink light off before heading upstairs for the night, knowing all is well and all is set for the next day.
But – I don’t want to spend all evening after work standing in the kitchen! So it’s important to establish good housekeeping habits that make tidying more of a second-nature routine!
If you’ve heard my friend Blair’s podcast episode where we talk about living without certain conveniences, then you know that Bjorn and I don’t have a dishwasher in our rental house. If I don’t stay on top of things dish-wise, our kitchen quickly looks like a disaster zone!
I did walk through a bit of my kitchen tidying process back in this post, but today I wanted to provide you with an actual extensive checklist that you can print out and post on your fridge or something! 🙂

Most of these tasks are habitual at this point…but even taking the time to type this out has served as a great reminder for me! Much of keeping a clean home is related to simple, small, daily habits.
Even if this list looks a bit intense at first glance, that’s just because it’s comprehensive and step-by-step. Remember that it is just made up of small tasks that soon become habits! At this point, I just move through the motions and tasks, one after another.

Kitchen Tidying Checklist
How do you like to straighten up your kitchen each day? Is there a daily kitchen task you recommend doing?
I don’t have a dishwasher in my flat either and the dishes are constantly piling up everywhere in the kitchen! I’m making it a goal of mine this year to wash a dish as soon as I use it. I’ve just gotta get my flatmates onto it too now!
That is such a good goal, Megan!! I remember living in college with 6 other girls and I think dishes were a big issue for us! Life just gets so busy and I certainly would let my dishes pile up sometimes too.
Oh yes! I love a clean kitchen! It makes me feel calm and peaceful too! <3
Yes!! A clean kitchen is a wonderful thing. 🙂 Thanks for reading along, Susannah!
