Goodbye, alpacas!
Once upon a time, my senior year in college, I fell in love with a baby alpaca at the county fair. Then I later fell in love with the idea of actually owning alpacas. 🙂 After all, they’re such fluffy, quirky, cute creatures! Bjorn and I researched and eventually purchased these 3 ladies, Mindy, Hailey, and Jazz. 🙂
We’ve had a lot of adventures over the past few years! However, we’ve come to realize that it’s time to move on. Alpacas are beautiful, amazing creatures, but we now know that we aren’t truly “exotic animal people.” So, bright and early last Saturday morning, Bjorn loaded up the girls for the last time. They’ve now been sold, which is kind of bittersweet. I’ll miss their sweet little “hmmm” sound and their long fluffy necks. We learned a lot from caring for our alpacas, and it was so fun to go back through these pictures of them (including some pretty great alpaca selfies!), but we do look forward to becoming more “traditional” farm animal/pet owners in the future. 🙂
How cool! What a fun experience to have!
How fun!
I have a bunch of friends who would take their summers and spring breaks and work “shearing alpacas” to make money for school!
I think you’re really cool animals…and now that you’ve had them- you have a really cool experience to remember even if it wasn’t quite your thing!
Awwwww! I LOVE alpacas. I’m so jealous you got to hang out with so many of them!!
I am so jealous! If I had the space for alpacas, I would love them. I would also like chickens, maybe that’s a good first step. Were they difficult to care for? Or expensive? I used to help take care of them at the zoo, but that was more for work than pleasure, so I’m sure its very different when they live at your home.
OMG! I love that you owned them! It is totally okay that you only had them for a season! But what memories!
