Many of you know that in addition to being a lifestyle blogger, I am also a teacher in an elementary school. I teach small-group reading and math and I’m with kindergarteners all day! Teachers are constantly on the go, and we often find ourselves in desperate need of a stick of gum or other quick ways to refresh over our lunch breaks or prep! Over the course of this school year, I’ve received a couple cute little baskets or buckets filled with chocolate or other fun goodies. Sometimes these gifts are from fellow teachers, and sometimes from parents of the kindergarten students with whom I work. Regardless…even simpler, thoughtful presents can mean so much to a teacher.

Winters can feel really long for just about anyone. That’s why it’s important to intentionally encourage each other…and what better way to do that than to create a fun gift basket? 🙂 I assure you, it will really brighten their day.

How to Make a Teacher Gift Basket: Give Extra, Get Extra

1 // Consider the recipient. Think about the specific person you’d like to bless with a gift basket. What thoughtful and practical items could you include? Personal touches are always appreciated!

2 // Brainstorm ideas. When it comes to winter survival, there are several main areas where people tend to struggle: skin care, health/energy, and happiness! So I recommend categorizing your gift basket shopping list with these topics in mind.

Here’s a list of what I’m including in my gift basket:

Other bonus items:

  • Vitamin C drink mix
  • A small, cute candle
  • A $5 coffee shop gift card
  • Hand lotion

3 // Head to Walmart with your list!

There are a couple Walmart stores within driving distance of where I live…and I love stopping there after work or whenever I have a list. The gum I wanted to include in this gift basket is a larger pack (35 sticks), and it’s a plus that the Extra® 35-stick pack comes in a more sturdy package made from recycled materials.

This gum can be found in the checkout aisles at Walmart – easy and convenient for you to grab as you wrap up your shopping trip! I love it because obviously, you get more gum – and it’s also easy to split between your desk at work and your purse when you’re on the go…or share with colleagues. 🙂

4 // Find a cute basket or tin. I used a circular tin with a cute floral print – anything fresh and lovely to get our mind off winter at this point! 🙂

5 // Arrange and fill the gift basket! You can use some tissue paper underneath the gift basket items to give them a little bit of extra height.
