Coffee Table Makeover (Before + After!)
As a teacher, summer is perfect for getting our house projects done! I’ve been eagerly anticipating this blessing of a relatively open chunk of time, and I’m thrilled to have gotten a couple projects completed already! One of the DIYs I was especially looking forward to was giving our little living room coffee table a makeover.
This table belonged to my husband during college and now that we are sharing a home, I’ve opted to use it as a lovely coffee table for our living room! It had so much character – I loved it, but I just wanted to give its color a boost so it’d have a bright new (and classy) look.
Here’s the official BEFORE picture:
I am in love with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint, so I knew I wanted to use that paint on this table (I’ve had great success with milk paint in the past, using it to freshen up our guest room’s side table and my desk in our office). I also LOVE white for a home – there’s something just so lovely and clean about it. And since I also enjoyed staining my husband’s “cacti table” in our dining room last fall…I knew I wanted to incorporate some wood staining, too! 🙂
Don’t mind the mess 😉 My feet were stained for a few days, too!
^^ Before I added the last coat of milk paint.
I LOVE how the top of the table turned out with the dark stain!!
I’m so pleased with how this little table turned out. What do you think?? Now I’m finding myself looking for other projects to start!
Do you enjoy painting or staining (or both!)? What fun home projects have you done lately? (I’m looking for inspiration, friends!) 🙂
Looks lovely!! That’s a huge project, you deserve huge props!!
Aw, thanks, Sarah! 🙂 It took a couple days but was totally worth it! It’s always fun to revamp furniture and I hope to get better at it in the future! 🙂
Haha I know what you mean! You’re a brave soul for undertaking such a big DIY project (gathering up my paintbrushes now)
Love this! Beautiful job. Love that Darling mug, as well. 🙂
Thanks, Summer! It sure was a fun project to finish 🙂 I LOVE my Darling mug – it came with an order of a couple issues of Darling I got a while back. I think you can buy them individually too! Happy wedding week, by the way!!!
LOVE it!! I just got done painting my childhood bed to use in Eli’s new room! I had to prime it, so I had primer all over my hands for a few days!! 🙂
🙂 What a fun project! I love how Eli gets to use the bed you grew up with! I had stain all over my feet – and ahem, our bathroom sink 🙁 !! Thanks for reading along, Hayley!
This turned out so great! Tyler and I love doing projects like this! 🙂
That’s awesome, Samantha! It’s so fun to have these kinds of projects to do together! Thanks for reading along 🙂
