I’ve always had a busy mind. A worrier, an over-analyzer, or just a deep thinker – I’m still not entirely sure what I’d call myself. 🙂 Although the worrying and over-thinking is something I’m working on, I can also be grateful for how these characteristics of mine have affected my faith journey.

When I feel like I’m at my weakest, I’ve learned there are two directions I can go: the first is that I can choose to let my thoughts swirl around me. I can let them all sink in until I find myself overwhelmed or discouraged. But the second choice I could make is to turn to my Lord. That means I must forget my pride and my “I can do this/analyze this/get through this on my own” attitude. It can be hard to do, especially if these thought patterns of worry or over-thinking are a habit! But in those moments when I choose to turn towards my Savior and draw close to Him rather than push away, I am filled with peace and reminders of His promises.

8 Bible Verses For a Busy Mind - Just Bee

Here are the Bible verses that help me when my mind is busy!

Bible Verses For a Busy Mind

1 // Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. – Psalm 116:7

2 // In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. – Psalm 4:8

3 // Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. – Psalm 143:8

4 // Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6

5 // Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7

6 // All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes,
    but the Lord weighs the spirit.
Commit your work to the Lord,
    and your plans will be established.
The Lord has made everything for its purpose,
    even the wicked for the day of trouble. – Proverbs 16:2-4

7 // So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10

8 //
 Why do you complain, Jacob?
    Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
    my cause is disregarded by my God”?
  Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
  but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:27-31

  1. I struggle a lot with worry and being fearful. There are some verses in Psalm 37 and Psalm 89 or 90 that I always go to! Thanks for giving me a few more to have in mind when I’m trying to turn my mind away from those places!
