DIY Home Coffee Bar

DIY Home Coffee Bar - Give your place that coffee shop flair! - Just Bee Blog

If you’ve followed along here at Just Bee for a while, then you’re probably aware of two things: 1. I am a huge fan of coffee shops, and 2. I currently live in a small community…one without a Starbucks! And for a coffee shop lover, that proves to be a bit of a dilemma. 🙂 I definitely went through a season of disappointment – because as silly as it sounds, I had grown very used to spending mornings or afternoons at a coffee shop, reading, studying, or blogging. I have had to totally recreate that “study environment” at my home instead. Granted, I do still feel sad sometimes when all I want to do is hop in the car and find a nice, spacious table in the corner of a Starbucks to work on things…but I’m learning to adapt. 🙂

Since I love taking things that feel classy and bringing them into the home (like my charcuterie board), creating an at-home coffee bar has been something I have wanted to do for a long time!

I found this small, sturdy table at Goodwill for less than 9 dollars! It had been lovingly painted with whimsical cats and hearts, but it needed a new look before it could begin its life as my coffee bar. 🙂

I used chalk paint (which I found I enjoyed far more than milk paint!) and finished the table off with a couple coats of wax for durability. The table is a tad bit smaller than I would have ideally liked for a coffee station, but it was such a great deal and very sturdy! I wanted to paint it a color that would match with our future home’s color scheme – and if I ever decide I want a larger coffee bar someday, I can just find a different use for this cute table! For now, it definitely holds all that we need it to – our coffee maker, Keurig, and a couple other hot beverage-related supplies.

Here it is, in its happy new corner of our home! I have it in the dining room, since I really like to sit at the large dining table to work on projects or the blog. Having a coffee station in the dining room really lends the room an added “coffee shop flair.” 🙂

(And some of you have been asking to see glimpses of our current place – so I’m opening up a bit and letting you see some of the unique wallpaper around here! This home has a ton of history and the wallpaper is only scratching the surface 🙂 )

What do you think? Do you have a little coffee station at your place, or are you thinking of making one?

    1. A tea bar sounds so lovely, Samantha! 🙂 My husband is the one who really drinks coffee in our household (it makes me way too jittery) but we have some little K-cups for cocoa and cider for our Keurig which is fun, too! I am such a fan of tea, like you!

    1. Yes! Goodwill is awesome! I’m learning to love it more and more – sometimes my mom sends me awesome 25% off coupons for Goodwill as well! There always seems to be something great there. (I actually recently bought a lot of cheap picture frames – still good quality – from Goodwill, for our gallery wall in the living room!)

  1. This is so cute! I miss having our coffee bar. Steven actually built one for me! Goodwill is the best way to find old furniture like this and make it your own 🙂

    1. Thank you, Madison! It is so special that your husband built you a coffee bar! That is so fun. And yes – it’s always a blast wandering the aisles and seeing what fun items we could repurpose.
