I've enjoyed learning about and studying things for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I would get up early on Saturday mornings and peruse craft books, looking for a fun new project to try. My favorite nonfiction book was (and still is) Children Just Like Me … [Read more...]
How My Husband And I Stay Best Friends
My husband and I are best friends. I know it seems like everyone says that, but I don't say that phrase flippantly or take it lightly. Here's the story: Bjorn knew from a young age that he wanted to marry his best friend. He knew that he wanted to find a woman who would start as his best friend, and then marry her! And that's exactly what happened. :) We met in college, started eating lunch together a couple times a week because of our class schedules, and over time became each other's … [Read more...]
Happy Birthday to Bjorn! (26 Things I Love About Him)
It's my husband's birthday today!! Happy birthday, love! :) I turned 26 last week (I'm 9 days older than my husband!) and thought that Bjorn's birthday called for a special post on the blog today. He is such a huge part of my life (obviously) - and he also is a big-time encourager and cheerleader of this blog, so he deserves a shoutout on Just Bee today! :) In honor of Bjorn's special day, I wanted to share 26 things I absolutely love about him. There are definitely countless other … [Read more...]
Thoughts on the Eve of Turning 26
It's 7 pm on the eve of my turning 26 years old. I'm sitting in bed, cozied up in pajamas with my Low Key Bee Spotify music playing, a stack of books to my left, and my husband reading and working on my right. It's amazing how much music can affect me. I switched it on and immediately felt tension begin to melt. I just took my first truly deep breath of the entire day so far, and I'm feeling myself start to relax. We just returned home from a city council meeting in our small town, where I … [Read more...]
Cultivating Healthy Ambition In Yourself + Supporting An Ambitious Spouse
"She has always been ambitious." "He is so full of ambition!" You've probably heard these phrases quite a bit over the years. After all, in a culture and time when the bullet points of our resumes are analyzed, "ambitious" is a buzz word that pops up time and time again. I've been thinking a lot about the word "ambition" lately - what it means in general, and what it means in context of my own life (and marriage). And I'm curious to find out what you think of that word, and how … [Read more...]
Staying Positive & Productive When Your Husband’s Out of Town (8 Tips)
Bjorn and I will have been married 3 years ALREADY this coming March, and boy, has marriage been a beautiful, sometimes challenging, but wonderful blessing in our lives. I believe that marriage is one big sanctifying process (where we are continually shaped and refined and stretched and challenged) as God works to use this relationship to show us more about Himself. It is awesome. But it also has its more difficult facets. One of those facets has, for me, been how to approach all of the time … [Read more...]
Life Lately // 3
Happy Tuesday, friends!! Can you believe we're halfway through November already?! This month sure has flown by! Like I mentioned before in a recent "life lately" post, I'm trying to do more frequent, casual updates on the blog. I totally LOVE writing other posts with tips or encouragement, but I don't want to lose the journal-like aspect of blogging either. It's been a couple weeks since an update. Let's jump right in! 1 // Our soybeans have now been fully … [Read more...]
Why You Should Consider Sending Out a Holiday Letter This Year
It’s such a blessing to live near family. How do I know? Well, sometimes the importance of something can be taught through scarcity. The life I married into: What I mean is this: I have an amazing immediate family. But I grew up with no extended family in the state – or even relatives in neighboring states, for that matter! It was just the 5 of us in my immediate family and it was what I was used to…until Bjorn came into my life. :) When I first learned that my husband had so many of his … [Read more...]
